In the past 2 years, we have seen several home insurance carriers become insolvent and others have had their financial rating downgraded. A consequence of this has resulted in stricter eligibility guidelines and tighter underwriting requirements. This has caused more than 1 million Florida homeowner insurance policies to be placed with the state-run Citizens Property Insurance.
